CELTA (TEFL) courses at IH Tarragona

CELTA: Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults

About the CELTA course

The CELTA course is one of the most widely recognised qualifications worldwide in English language teaching (ELT or "TEFL", as it's also known). It is for people with little or no experience of teaching English as a foreign language providing you with the essential skills and knowledge required to teach English to adults and teenagers.

It combines practical input sessions and observation of experienced teachers with hands-on teaching practice with English language learners.

About the city of Tarragona

Tarragona is a beautiful coastal resort (pop. 132,000) approximately 100km (1 hour by train/bus) south of Barcelona and is just 10km from Reus airport (with some ridiculously cheap flights from the UK!) | Google Maps

It is situated on the Costa Dorada on the east coast of Spain and is a UNESCO World Heritage city. Its historic monuments (in the first photo, the Roman amphitheatre) and sandy beaches - all within walking distance of the school - make it an wonderful place to study | Tarragona on Wikipedia

It is also very close to Port Aventura theme park (second photo) and is the host city for the 2018 Mediterranean Games

About IH Tarragona

IH Tarragona was founded in 1980 and occupies one floor of a typical Tarragona town-house.

It is situated on the beautiful tree-lined Rambla Nova in the very centre of the city and all the major sights and the beach are within walking distance.

As you can see from the pages on our website here, we teach English (and other languages), have a summer Spanish programme for teens, and are an official centre for Cambridge English exams.

For exceptional candidates on our CELTA courses, we may post-course be able to offer employment (though cannot guarantee vacancies).

As a sub-centre of IH Barcelona, we also provide our Tarragona CELTA trainees with access to our post-course support groups (which are also excellent for ELT jobs vacancies).
