A fun learning experience for teens (ages 13-17) in Tarragona, Spain
And, since 2001, the venue for a really great summer camp...
The city of Tarraco was the oldest Roman settlement in Spain and, in those days, a much more important city than nearby Barcelona.
The well-preseverd ruins of the Roman city, including the amphitheatre and aqueduct (in the photo, above), mean that Tarragona today (pop. 130,000) is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Tarragona will also be host city for the 2017 Mediterranean Games
A real cool place for a summer holiday... !
Explore the map below to see some of the places we get to on the activities programme (Port Aventura and Aquopolis are everyone's favourite!).
For flights, note that some low-cost airlines fly to Reus, which is just 10km away
Note that students should arrange arrival flights for the Sunday before their course starts and departure flights for the Saturday after their course finishes.
If it is impossible to arrange transport to coincide with arrival and departure times, please contact us to check that alternative arrangements can be made. Extra nights are usually available on payment of a supplement.
Free airport transfer to and from Barcelona is included!
Specifically designed for teenagers, the programme combines 3 hours a day of dynamic, communicative Spanish lessons.
Afternoons, we have a wide variety of outdoor and cultural activities in the small, historical Mediterranean city of Tarragona
Highlights of the full activities programme include:
Dance classes (flamenco and salsa)
Trip to Barcelona (100 km) to see the Park Güell and the Sagrada Familia
Building castellers (human towers!)
Trips to Port Aventura and Aquópolis theme parks
Stay either in our fully-supervised student residence or, for a full immersion experience, stay with a local Spanish host family
In 2017 the course runs from Monday July 3 to Saturday August 5 and you can choose to stay from 1 to 5 weeks.
Possible starting dates:
Stays are from 1 to 5 weeks.
We recommend students bring €60-€100 per week for pocket money, etc.
All students will be covered by a basic insurance policy while in Tarragona. However, we strongly recommend students to take out additional travel insurance in their country of origin to cover any loss, sickness or accident which may occur during the course.
The programme is run jointly between IH Tarragona and IH Barcelona
IH Tarragona opened in 1980. The school, which is in the very centre of the city, offers English classes to local students throughout the year as well as this Spanish programme in the summer.
